The UIL's official 2026-27 football calendar is posted, and it sets the framework every Texas program is now working inside.

For 1A-4A schools, 5A and 6A schools without spring training, and all incoming ninth graders, conditioning began August 3 with helmets only and no contact activities. Full contact was permitted starting August 8, with the first scrimmage August 13, a second August 20, and an optional third August 27 — schools that take the third scrimmage do not play in Week One.

For 5A and 6A schools that held spring training, conditioning opened August 10, full contact began August 15, and the two permitted scrimmages fall on August 20 and August 27, with the same Week One restriction attached to the later date.

The regular season runs 11 weeks, starting with Week One on August 27, 28 and 29 and ending with Week Eleven on November 5, 6 and 7. Schools have those 11 weeks to play a maximum of 10 games. District certification is due November 7.

Playoff weeks begin November 12-14 and continue through December 10-12, with an exception allowing 2A Division II to play on December 9. State championships are set for the week of December 16-19 for all conferences.

Sub-varsity note in the UIL calendar: sub-varsity teams may play on Wednesday during Week One only if the varsity team plays Thursday of that same week.
