What looked like a perfect start to the 2026 season has suddenly been erased.
Lewisville is officially 0-3.
The Fighting Farmers opened the season with three convincing wins, but all three have now been forfeited after the District 5-6A Executive Committee ruled starting quarterback Laykon Brassfield ineligible.
The committee voted 7-0 that Brassfield did not meet the UIL's requirements for bona fide residency within Lewisville ISD or the Lewisville High School attendance zone.
THREE WINS. THREE FORFEITS.
Lewisville opened the season with wins over Highland Park, Byron Nelson and Denton Ryan, outscoring its opponents 154-66.
The results originally put the Fighting Farmers at 3-0.
Now, all three games are recorded as forfeits, leaving Lewisville with an official 0-3 record.
BRASSFIELD’S ROLE
Brassfield was a major part of Lewisville's early success.
Through three games, he completed approximately 71% of his passes for 734 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 133 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
He accounted for six total touchdowns in the season opener against Highland Park.
The eligibility ruling now leaves Lewisville facing the remainder of the season without the production it received from Brassfield during those opening games.
THE RULING
The case centered on Brassfield's move to Lewisville from Edmond North in Oklahoma and whether he established bona fide residency under UIL rules.
The committee ultimately determined that he did not meet the residency requirements. Members also voted 5-2 that the move was made for athletic purposes.
Lewisville ISD is expected to work with the UIL on the next steps, including the possibility of an eligibility waiver.
WHAT COMES NEXT
The Fighting Farmers now have to move forward from an official 0-3 start despite winning all three games on the field.
The opening month of the season has gone from a promising beginning to an eligibility controversy that could shape the rest of Lewisville's year.
Three wins are gone.
The record is 0-3.
Now, Lewisville has to start over.
