Every season, there are teams expected to win.
Then there are teams expected to prove it.
For Allen, the 2026 season could be one of those seasons.
The Eagles enter the year with one of the most demanding schedules in Texas high school football. With matchups against Duncanville, DeSoto, Southlake Carroll, Prosper, Princeton, McKinney, Rock Hill, Dallas Jesuit, McKinney Boyd and Walnut Grove, there won't be much room for an off night.
The question isn't whether Allen has talent.
It's whether Allen can survive the schedule.
A Brutal Road Ahead
Allen's schedule immediately stands out because of the number of established programs packed into it.
Duncanville and DeSoto bring two of the biggest names in the state. Southlake Carroll is another program with a long history of competing at a high level, while Prosper and McKinney add even more challenges within the district landscape.
And that's just part of the schedule.
Games against Rock Hill, Dallas Jesuit, McKinney Boyd and Walnut Grove mean Allen will have to bring the same level of preparation throughout the entire season.
There may not be a single game where the Eagles can afford to overlook their opponent.
Can Allen Go 10-0?
That's the question at the center of the conversation.
Going undefeated through a schedule this difficult would be a massive statement. But realistically, Allen doesn't need to go 10-0 to have a successful season.
What matters most is how the Eagles respond when they finally face adversity.
A tough schedule can become a strength by playoff time. Every major game gives a team another opportunity to learn how to handle pressure, make adjustments and compete when the margin for error is small.
If Allen can come out of the regular season battle-tested and healthy, that experience could become extremely valuable once the playoffs arrive.
The Duncanville Game Could Set the Tone
Among all the games on the schedule, Duncanville immediately jumps off the page.
It's the type of matchup that doesn't need much hype. Two major North Texas programs, plenty of talent and a game that could have major implications later in the season.
For Allen, these are the games that will show exactly where the team stands.
Can the Eagles compete with the state's elite?
Can they win the close games?
And when the pressure rises, can they finish?
Those answers could determine how far this team goes.
A Season That Will Test Allen
The easiest thing to do with a schedule like this is look at the names and predict losses.
But that's not what makes high school football interesting.
Allen has an opportunity to turn one of the state's toughest schedules into one of its biggest advantages. If the Eagles can consistently compete against top competition, they'll enter the postseason with something that can't be replicated in practice: experience.
Ten wins would certainly make a statement.
But even more important is what Allen looks like when December arrives.
Because if the Eagles can survive this schedule, they may be ready for anybody.
“The road to a championship won't be easy for Allen. But if they're as good as many believe, this schedule will give them every opportunity to prove it.”
