Dave Campbell's Texas Football published Matt Stepp's 5A Division I Region III outlook on August 18, one of the final regional previews before Week One opens August 27.
The projection covers district finishes, bi-district matchups and a regional champion in a region that spans Houston ISD, Fort Bend County and the Austin suburbs.
Programs featured in the preview include Richmond Randle, La Porte, Houston Madison and Pflugerville Weiss. Richmond Randle is coming off a 31-1 stretch over the last two seasons with a state title and a state runner-up finish, and the Lions moved up from 5A Division II this cycle.
La Porte reached the regional finals in 2024 and is led by running back Sean Simon. Houston Madison returns 15 starters from a 9-2 squad. Pflugerville Weiss is also in the conversation.
These are preseason projections, not results. The UIL playoff calendar sets district certification for November 7 and bi-district games for the week of November 12.
